This page will contain all the pertintent info about my research, as soon as I have time to take a break from the aforementioned research and write it. In the meantime, I'll just let you know that I did my PhD at the University of Southampton, UK, working with Tom Marsh and Christian Knigge. My thesis was entitled 'High time resolution observations of cataclysmic variables and related objects', and made use of the high-speed CCD camera, ULTRACAM, built by Vik Dhillon and Tom. I've now published all the chapters (see Publications for the link to my papers and my thesis) except one, which is a survey for photometric variability in isolated magnetic white dwarfs. I promise I'll get round to writing that up soon, but if you need the results then please feel free to email me and kick me into getting on with it.
I've now moved to the Spitzer Science Center at Caltech to work on CVs and white dwarf—red dwarf binaries with Don Hoard and Stefanie Wachter. I also work with Dave Ciardi, Gerard Van Belle, Steve Howell and Cynthia Froning, all of whom have been kind enough to donate to the “keep Carolyn employed” fund. I am mainly working on infrared properties of CVs using data from the Spitzer Space Telescope, although I am still keeping myself occupied observing in the optical as well. |
