updated 2MASS Sky Coverage of Extended Source Classification

As part of the GALWORKS engineering checkout phase and
post-processing catalog generation, a number of RTB fields
(see e.g.
Validation Fields )
have been carefully examined to produce a "truth" table
or classification set. Output sources from GALWORKS,
which are nominally galaxies or extended sources, are examined
and compared with the DSS when possible. The sources are
classified as one of the following:
1. galaxies or extended objects
2. isolated stars
3. double stars
4. triple stars
5. artifacts (meteors, bright star features) or pieces thereof
6. unknown (re: difficult to classify accurately)
Among other things, we will use the "truth" tables to
build "training" sets with the goal to construct an automated
classification machine (via decision trees or neural nets, for example).
The gif(s) below show the cummulative "truth" sets on the
sky. Our goal is to fill a large fraction of the sky (globe) with
accurately classified objects.
