A Day Trip to the Wineries around Santa Barbara / Los Olivos.

On a foggy Sunday morning we left Pasadena for a day long adventure in wine country. The drive is pretty spectacular after Thousand Oaks. Everything seemed to be in bloom. There were yellow wildflowers and poppies everywhere. In Los Olivos, we promply got lost and ended up at a winery called Backman. The Sauvignon was ok - the rest so so. Next we went to Gainey - my favorite vineyard here. And had a fantastic afternoon tasting wines, having a picnic and enjoying the sun. And we topped it off with a visit to Kalyra - another nice winery. We returned via Santa Barbara and dinner at a fantastic cajun place called "The Palace" - if you are in SB, you have to check this restaurant out - its fabulous even for a veggies! Between the six of us, we bought over 52 bottles of wine! Now that is a succesful winery tour :)
