TRAVEL
GUIDELINES
Effective immediately,
please be aware of the following JPL Travel policy with regard to
combining business and personal travel. -Mary Ellen Barba, May 11
2005
- The booking of personal travel in combination with JPL
business travel is provided to the traveler as a courtesy. For
this courtesy to be extended, the traveler must agree to comply with
the following guidelines
- All airfare shall be charged to the traveler's personal
credit card, with the traveler assuming full financial responsibility
for the total fare, including the business portion, in consideration of
the following:
- A non-refundable business/personal fare cannot be
"co-owned" or split. As a result, when booking a combined
business/personal fare, the traveler must assume financial
responsibility for the full fare until completion of the business trip,
at which time reimbursement for the business portion will be
made. In the event the business trip is cancelled, the traveler
will not be reimbursed for the business portion, and will retain
complete ownership of the ticket.
- For example, if the traveler books a $1,000 non-refundable
fare, which includes $200 for the personal portion and $800 for the
business portion, and the business trip is cancelled, the traveler is
responsible for the full $1,000 fare and will receive no reimbursement
from JPL. Additionally, the traveler will be charged a change fee by
the airline when re-booking the travel.
- -- The traveler assumes responsibility for any changes or
cancellations to the personal travel. JPL Travel Reservations is
not authorized to provide assistance in this area.
- -- A cancelled non-refundable ticket may normally be
applied toward a future flight for a period of one year, if the
reservation is cancelled on or before the original ticketed departure
date. If the reservation is cancelled after the departure date,
the entire value of the ticket is forfeited.
- -- The traveler is responsible for any fee(s) charged for
changes to, or cancellation of, the personal travel.
- -- Due to the extent of the
traveler's financial risk when
combining business and personal travel, JPL highly recommends that the
traveler independently book all personal travel reservations.
