We took a driver and a tour guide for the Major and Minor Stone Forests
of Shilin not far from Kunming. The front of the Major Forest was too
crowded but our guide would not hear of diverting to tour the rear
part. "This is my road" she explained. When I said it is too crowded
she said - "Oh, you should see it when it's really crowded." Click and
zoom on the map above for stone formation names.

The Minor Stone Forest tour was done with the help of a Sani Guide. The
hat worn by the women has two triangular flags.
When both flags are up - the woman is single, when both are down - the
woman is married. When just one is up - she's engaged.
The stones on the right were viewed as a marriage ceremony. Jean
commented that the bride looked to be in the family way and perhaps
that was the bride's father behind the groom.
