Research

I did my PhD thesis research at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, and graduated in March 1999. Then I worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar  in the submillimeter wave astrophysics group at the California Institute of Technology. In January 2002 I switched to work as a Senior Postdoctoral Scholar in Caltech's astronomy department to prepare observations with the SIRTF satellite and to use the Owens Valley Millimeter Wave Array . My research concentrates on the evolution of molecular clouds and star forming regions. I determine the abundances and physical conditions from observations of solid and gas phase molecules toward high and low mass protostars in various stages of their evolution.
